Small Nordegg Wedding in ALberta Rocky Mountains, and Plenty of Adventures

In a less known region of Alberta in the Canadian Rockies, lies a little town called Nordegg, and the surrounding area of the David Thompson Country. This area is filled with everything that makes a perfect adventure elopement or intimate wedding, as there is so much unspoilt area to explore and things to do. Enjoy hiking, 4x4ing, fishing, horseback riding, or just taking in the nature? It has it all.

Vanessa and Peter took a trip to this beautiful spot once, and after getting engaged, decided it was the perfect spot to get married. When they reached out to me, they expressed how they loved the idea of including some friends and family for their wedding ceremony, then heading out and spending the day adventuring as just the two of them as newlyweds, so we planned the perfect day for them!

They rented a beautiful VRBO just outside of Nordegg for them and their family, brought a handmade wood arch and just spent the time with the people closest to them. After spending the morning getting ready and prepping a few details, they went outside for the ceremony, and had lunch with even a birch bark cake, and a full group champagne spray, we headed out on the adventure, and what an adventure wedding it was in David Thompson Country.

The destination was determined, about a forty minute drive down the Forestry Trunk Road, a gravel road into a remote area with no cell service. Our first stop was at the river for some photos, when Peter mentioned they could go fishing as they had their fishing rods in the back. No one misses a chance to fish! Unfortunately, Vanessa’s rod broke before she could even cast a line, but still let Peter have some time to throw a few hooks.

We took the opportunity of course to use the landscape for photos, then continued down to Ram River and Ram River Horseback Tours.

Peter and Vanessa picked a horseback ride for their adventure on their wedding day, merely because they wanted to, which is just to emphasize that you can do whatever you want!

Everyone at Ram River Tours was so friendly and helpful, having cleaned off their two white horses for the bride and groom, assisting with getting the horses in place for photos, and then of course giving us a guided tour of the area, walking through the forest and through creeks.

When we finished the tour, we headed back to the VRBO so they could spend the evening with their friends and family, but not before we stopped to help a stranded family fix their flat tire on their trailer. You just never know what kind of adventure you are going to find!

Thank you Vanessa and Peter for having me document your beautiful day, and wishing you many many years of happiness and love!

Horseback Riding Adventure Wedding in the Canadian Rockies

Of course there are many options for horseback riding in the Canadian Rockies, but if you are headed out to Nordegg, or want something more off the beaten path, I highly recommend Ram River Tours.  They were so accommodating for this adventure wedding in the Canadian Rockies.

Adventure Elopement Photographer in Nordegg

I might not be a “local” but I’ve spent so much time in the Nordegg and David Thompson Country area that it’s basically a second home! I love photographing couples’ adventures here, and have many ideas and suggestions for making it amazing for you both. So if the area is something you are considering for your special day or just the next adventure, I’d love to hear from you!
