Unique bridal photo ideas, bridal swing shoot

As a photographer, and creator, sometimes we need a little shoot just for ourselves to boost our enjoyment and try something a little out of the box. Well that is exactly what this night at Lakeview Events near Barrhead, Alberta did for me.

This was a bit of a last minute shoot put together by some amazing vendors, with the whole focus being one inspirational photo of a lady on a swing. Little did I know that the results would be more amazing than I could dream.

We started out with shooting a new trailer by The Bottled Bronco. If you are looking for a mobile bar to bring the fun to your wedding in a totally unique way, these guys are an amazing option! After getting all of our posed shots, we got the bride up onto the bar and had the other model pouring wine into her mouth for a good pour shot! It was amazing!

The florals provided for the evening were beautiful, supplied by The Flower Shoppe in Barrhead, Alberta.

Next was the climax of the night… the swing.

Now, the swing did not go exactly as planned. There was supposed to be a zoom-boom to lift up the swing, so we could choose the area to hang the swing as much of the venue was under construction prior to the busy season, however, the venue owner came out to realize that the machine in question had been taken off site for other uses… Ooops…

So improvisation took place, and the swing was hung four feet off the ground from the rafters of their new patio area, but once we got the bride and the dress on the swing, it was determined that the swing had to be taken up much, much higher to let the beautiful gown and veil fly.

While you can’t see it in the pictures, the swing was almost 10 feet in the air, and needed the ladder to even climb onto it! But it was all worth the effort, for as the sun went down, magic happened.

We finished off the night with bridal portraits out at Lakeview Events dock with a stunning shorter dress, a tassled jacket, and a beautiful fire burned hat by @a_firehatburning . Check out her work on Instagram!
